Mock Week

[ After the day before, with the reveal of the full extent of the rules and how the game works along with their hosts, the only thing everyone could do was have a meeting with alcohol and go to bed. And when awakened, everything is the same. It's still the large mansion, they're still locked inside, and there's still the idea that they have the choice to murder each other hanging over them. But now the mansion is free to explore to their hearts' content, save for the room under the stairs outside the mud room. All anyone can really do is just enjoy their week and hope for the best. ]

[Well, that does make her pause again.] You're really weird. But still better than that so-called "superhero," I guess. [She snorts a little.] He didn't care at all how easy it was to kill two girls younger than him.

... It's just... look. Some of us have good reasons, okay?

[ He's just... not gonna say what those reasons are. ]

[telecosmetic]

[Well, Eliza has kind of backslid into Dragging Kaine now.] I guess protecting someone you care about is a good reason. But Mr. Kaine could have gotten that wish just fine after he killed that second girl. He didn't need to not confess it and let four other people die because of that. [She snorts again.] He couldn't even admit it to me when we met up after the Magical Girl Hunter killed him!

[There's a pause when she realizes what she just said in the middle of her rant. She quickly waves her hand.] U-um, ignore that! I was just...talking to myself! ["Dislikes: Kaine Parker."]

A-anyways, that still means you're better than him. If you can feel sympathy for him instead of acting like you're better than him. [He even...kind of has the right to do that? Since so far he hasn't murdered anyone.]

[ He sighs. ]

What would you do if you were forced to kill someone you cared about more than anything in the world?

...I wouldn't do it. I-I'd rather die first! [She doesn't know if she could kill herself. But she knows she could never hurt Zack, or Recette, or Pokey, or any of the people she's come to care about in the worlds she's been through.]

... So you would forfeit your own life? Uselessly? Even if you were told the consequences would be severe?

[ Well, she's braver than she looks, at least. ]

Yeah... that sounds about right. But for some of us? The only end there can be is two people killing one another. That's the kind of World I come from.

[telecosmetic]

[She's still walking towards him, but she doesn't seem angry any more.] The consequences...for who? Or what? [If it's just for her...that's no problem. She's been ready to sacrifice her soul and existence before.]

...your world really does sound terrible. Is that...something about angels and demons?

[pervet]

... Not killing your enemy. Not commiting murder in your God's name, of course.

[ His gaze is pretty empty. ]

"Demons are vile, sinful creatures, and they must be punished for their affront to God."

The mission I was tasked with, when I wasn't healing, was killing the Devil's general. His second-in-command. We... fought really often. We were just too evenly matched, I think. Maybe it's because fire and ice just cancel each other out. I don't know.

[She just...watches him as he speaks. She's not sure what to say-even the idea of killing in God's name is so far removed from what she knows of the world.]

And he...was he the person most important to you?

Maybe. ... I'm pretty sure we killed each other. I probably just... can't remember. And even if that's not true--

[ ... Well. ]

... Someone else would finish the job. There's always someone else.

[She just...listens. And isn't sure what to say. Part of her wants to cry a bit over that idea, but she's not sure he'd appreciate it. So instead...she just looks over at the wall.]

Is that a picture of him? [Is that why he's here specifically?]

[pervet]

... Yeah. I don't know who put it up here. Probably that asshole Van.

[ It's why he's in here, yes. ]

...is it stuck there? That's kind of rude... [Both to him and to the room. You can't just glue random photographs to walls!]

... I don't know. I tried to remove it earlier but I got... distracted. By zipperface.

[ You know, Kiyo. ]

Either way, someone is really messing with me and I don't appreciate it. It'd be like if someone put up a picture of someone you knew really well in here without any warning, you know? It's just tasteless.

[She nods.] Yeah. I don't know why anyone would try to do something like that. [Why would that be your first reaction to getting someone's photo?]

[She looks over at him some more, before starting closer to him.] I'm not going to punch you anymore. [And if he doesn't move away she'll hug him.]

[pervet]

Why no--

[ You're touching him, Eliza. What is this. ]

... What are you doing?

[ What is a hug. Can you eat it. ]

[Is she crying? There's something soaking his clothes at least.] I...I can't be mad, if you were going to kill for someone you loved. And...and you chose not to, in the end, and you're not acting like you're better than anyone. And...I'm sorry, that your story could only end in you killing each other.

[ GROSS get it off????

... Okay, but really, he has no idea how to deal with Eliza all over him like this. Why is she so emotional, what is this, someone feeling sympathy for him. ]

I don't know why you're so worked up about it. It's not something to be upset about. That's just... how it goes. I think I'll be happy as long as he's the one to kill me. If it was anyone else, I'd be super angry. That's my job--to die fighting, anyway. Isn't it like that for everyone?

[telecosmetic]

[Eliza just...stares at him when he talks about that, and her first reaction is to his last question.] What? No! A-a bunch of humans don't even have fighting as part of their job! [Technically, she's one of those who does have fighting as part of her job, but they're supposed to be nonlethal battles.] And-and even the ones who do aren't expected to fight forever until they die!

[She pauses.] Is...is that what you were going to wish for? To guarantee that he'd be the one to kill you? [She sounds surprisingly understanding about it.]

[pervet]

... No.

[ He glances aside. ]

It was far more selfish than that.

[ ... Way, way more selfish. ]

I wanted my God and my Devil to get along. If Etihw had no reason to hate demons, there would be no reason for the war, and there would be no reason to fight anymore. Then we'd at least be able to talk. Whether he liked me or not. ... In fact, I really doubt he'd like me. But to even have that chance, is something I'd be grateful for.

[telecosmetic]

[Eliza's quiet for a while. She thinks back to an anime she watched with a companion who was equally eager about becoming a magical girl, before anyone had died. The ending she saw herself, about a wish selfish enough to change the world.]

...wouldn't stopping the war be a good thing? Even if it's your job...it's better to not have people keep dying, isn't it? Even if you have a selfish reason for it...

[ He lets out a small "heh" noise. ]

Maybe. Maybe not. All of us are expendable, though. That's the entire point of our existences. Beings created just to die. On the other hand, if that war was ended... we'd no longer have a purpose.

... So I don't know. I can't say for sure what would happen. If we'd get along or not. When you have two factions that have, on principal, been tearing each other apart since they were brought into this world... who knows?

[telecosmetic]

[Eliza sighs a little. It's a really thorny problem, and one she definitely has no idea for.] But...surely it can't just be you who started to...to care about someone on the other side? [He can't be alone. He can't be the only one out of who knows how many.]

[pervet]

[ Since he remembers now... ]

Ciel. No one was supposed to say anything, though. ... I don't think Etihw meant for it, but the kind of personality they gave her... making a healer that kind, it's asking for trouble. So of course she'd end up being nice to the enemy, too. I think almost everyone knows she likes Lost.

She's the one who made my scarf for me.

[ He messes with it a little. ]

... She doesn't talk much. If at all.

[Eliza glances at the scarf, nodding.] It's a nice scarf. [However, something comes to mind about what he just said.] You-you said you were all expected to die in battle. Is-is that true even for healers? [Even for gentle, kind healers?]
