Mock Week
[ After the day before, with the reveal of the full extent of the rules and how the game works along with their hosts, the only thing everyone could do was have a meeting with alcohol and go to bed. And when awakened, everything is the same. It's still the large mansion, they're still locked inside, and there's still the idea that they have the choice to murder each other hanging over them. But now the mansion is free to explore to their hearts' content, save for the room under the stairs outside the mud room. All anyone can really do is just enjoy their week and hope for the best. ]

[Well, just because there's no obvious means of escape, doesn't mean there's no escape outside of murder whatsoever. It...just means it's not obvious. Right? And so for much of the day, Shepard is looking for escape.
Feeling up walls. Looking into alcoves. Checking the floors for any boards that sound different. Anything that could signify a weakness in this place. Anything to go on.]
[Craft Room]
[When he's not doing that, Fin's in here, apparently grabbing various items like scissors, depressors, yarn, tape...basically he's piling a bunch of stuff on a table and sorting them out. Who knows why.
Maybe someone should ask him why he needs a whole box of crayons.]

Passage-Hunting
[Feeling some of the paneling right now.]
But I just started. Want to help out?

[There's a pause.] Actually...have you tried humming that music that played when that couple showed up?

[If it does...]

MODS?

It doesn't do anything else, sorry. ]

...Or maybe not, Shepard's not a good whistler.]

Maybe it needs to be a specific place...?

Craft Room
What are you doing with a whole box of crayons?
no subject
[...OF COURSE!]
Haven't gotten to medical yet...but these work, too, yeah?

[Are you sure you're an adult?]

[To demonstrate, he takes out a crayon, and--is that a lemon with nails and copper wires stabbed into it next to steel wire. Granted its tiny art steel wire, the kind you'd more likely find scrubbing dishes, but still.]
The paper around the crayon acts as the wick, and the crayon itself acts as the wax. And I didn't get matches just yet...and in case we somehow run out in a prolonged blackout...
[Seriously though, what]
See, watch.
[He takes the crayon, lays it on top of the steel wire, and starts to rub the copper coils onto the steel wire by the crayon. After a few seconds, the pointed end of the crayon starts to melt.]
Just a little more...
no subject
[Wait. How? How did he just do that?!]
How did you do that?!

[Soon enough, enough of the wax has burnt that the paper on the crayon sparks to bright life. With a chuckle, Shepard carefully places it up on some paper, letting the wax congeal on its bottom to form a base to hold it up.]
Lemon juice can generate electricity, and metal has conductivity, so just plug it in with the right stuff, get some wires, and you're good to go. And with the heat it makes, find some more metal, and...boom, you can make fire.
[A deeper snort.]
...Me and my best friend got up to some fun stuff as kids.

[Somewhere a certain prodigy is shaking her head in despair. Sarasa isn't dumb but this isn't exactly her forte.]
I'd ask what but I'm not sure that I want to know the thought process of you finding this out.
no subject
[The less you know how, the better.]
Similar idea, yeah. But with a box like this, your light'll last for a few days if you're careful.

... Ah. That's probably wise. Surprised you have crayons though, what're you gonna use those for?
Re: craft room
[...That explains it, right?]
Instead of going straight to the emergency candles, in case of a blackout.

[ He's pretty sure. So they burn... ]
I never thought about that. You think they might cut the power?
no subject
[He shrugs.]
Never can be too prepared, right?
In a hallway IDK
He looks just a little dismayed.]

[He really doesn't think he needs to elaborate here.]
I've been looking to see if there's any kind of structural damage in this place. Old buildings usually do; usually it's just the foundation giving way, or some idiot decides they want to do renovations and hacks away at a load-bearing structure without knowing what they're gonna do after. Anything that might be a weakness we can exploit and get out of this dump.
So far, though? This shit's airtight.
