Mock Week

[ After the day before, with the reveal of the full extent of the rules and how the game works along with their hosts, the only thing everyone could do was have a meeting with alcohol and go to bed. And when awakened, everything is the same. It's still the large mansion, they're still locked inside, and there's still the idea that they have the choice to murder each other hanging over them. But now the mansion is free to explore to their hearts' content, save for the room under the stairs outside the mud room. All anyone can really do is just enjoy their week and hope for the best. ]

[ Just get him to pause for a second in the middle of the movie because he's not going to simply speak up to someone while it's still playing. ]

It's a movie! Specifically, this is the 1939 film series of Sherlock Holmes. This one covers The Hound of the Baskervilles, which is the third novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle where Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Wartson investigate a supposed legend about a supernatural hound.

making conan talk about his crush is *never* a mistake

[ See, it's not that they don't have tech, it's that they don't use it on movies. They have glorified cellphones through his God's stones, but... hm. He's never... really seen a picture? Like this?

So admittedly a lot of that goes over his head a bit (he's TRYING to wrap his mind around it), but... ]

... Hey, that author guy kinda sounds like he has the same name as you, then? Is "Conan" a common name?
holmesapprentice: (pic#9721788)

well i mean... he'd talk more about holmes than his actual crush

[personal profile] holmesapprentice 2017-11-07 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a common name where I'm from, but I was definitely named after the author. My parents really loved Sherlock Holmes, after all!

[ Not to mention Edogawa Ranpo, but there's no way Conan's going to say anything about that. ]

are you sure his real crush isn't Sherlock Holmes

[personal profile] pervet 2017-11-07 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... That has him curious. He's gotta ask. This might be opening a can of worms, but-- ]

... So what's the big deal with this Merlock guy, then?

[ Sherbet: bad at remembering names forever. ]

looks at the newest chapter. pretty sure.

[personal profile] holmesapprentice 2017-11-07 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Sherlock.

[ He will even enunciate it slowly if he has to. ] He's the most famous fictional detective ever known to man!

[personal profile] pervet 2017-11-07 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
... What, so like, a crime-solver?

[ He thinks he gets it, but still. ]
holmesapprentice: (pic#9721780)

i mean hostage motive is probably going to make him really upset, he loves ran

[personal profile] holmesapprentice 2017-11-07 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, exactly!

[ At least he gets that part, which is a relief, if he's going to be honest here. ]
pervet: (SOOOO INNOCENT.)

it's why im VERY NERVOUS what our motive will be, negl

[personal profile] pervet 2017-11-07 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... You're kind of adorable???? ]

I'm guessing he must solve a lot of crime, then. This picture--I think it's a moving book? I've never really seen anything like it; the closest we have back home is our communication line.

He does. Well, he's just fictional... but that's what he's famous for. It's similar to a moving book, I guess? It's called a motion picture, or a movie, and it's using a projector to show pre-recorded videos of actors on a screen.

I think I get the idea.

[ He'll just glance at the movie. Hm. ]

Sounds like you really like him. I can't say I can think of anything fictional like that where I come from, most of the books we have are about realistic subjects.
